The whole idea of meal prepping is to have healthy options readily available to help you stay on track with your health and fitness goals. There are so many ways to do this. Don’t feel like you have to follow any set rules. Play around with things and make it work for YOUR lifestyle! If you don’t have time to prep your meals for an entire week, just prepare a few things that will make your life easier. I prefer to prep ingredients instead of entire meals. This way I have less prep time when I’m cooking a meal and I won’t feel stuck (aka bored) with a week of prepackaged meals.
My absolute FAVORITE meal prep hack is using rotisserie chicken. It’s delicious, healthy, and inexpensive. I rarely leave the store without at least 2 of them. As soon as you get home from the store (and put away the cold items), go ahead and whip out a cutting board and get to work on your chicken. Remove the skin and pull all of the meat off of the bones. Toss the skin and bones in the trash (unless you’re fancy and make stock with yours). Dice or shred the meat and place it in tupperware containers or ziploc bags (I do one for white meat, one for dark because I’m picky). Put it in the fridge and pat yourself on the back for prepping a super simple and versatile ingredient! Easy, right?
Now what? You can use this chicken in almost any recipe that calls for chicken. But, here are 20 healthy recipes to get you started!
