First of all, if you’re on vacation the last thing you want to do is STRESS! So, stop it right now. Listen, you are a work in progress. If you miss a workout, do not beat yourself up. Just promise yourself that you will do better tomorrow. If you have a busy vacation schedule or you will be stuck in meetings all day, just do your best to be more active.
Tip #1 – Skip the workout video and GET OUTSIDE!
If you’re in a location that offers lots of great outdoor activities, by all means opt for those! Hiking, biking, kayaking, and swimming are all FANTASTIC cardio workouts! Plus, you’ll be having so much fun that you’ll forget you’re actually exercising.
Tip #2 – Utilize the hotel gym.
Most hotels offer a small gym in the hotel. You’ll probably find a treadmill, stationary bike, and some weights. Grab your headphones, crank up your favorite playlist, and jump on your machine of choice. If there isn’t a gym in your hotel, do some laps in the pool. If all else fails, try this no-equipment-needed hotel room workout!
Tip #3 – Do your workout EARLY!
The best way to ensure you stick to your fitness routine is to get that workout done first thing! It’s way too easy to make excuses at the end of a long day. So, why not just “kiss the frog” and get it done before you take your morning shower? You’ll feel energized and ready to take on your day!
Tip #4 – Use the buddy system.
If you’re traveling with a friend or spouse, get them to join you! Having a workout buddy is great motivation and will make your workout fly by! When I travel with my family, we always laugh so much during our workout that we should have 6-pack abs by the end!
Tip #5 – Get in more steps.
So, you can’t find time to do an actual workout? That’s okay! Here’s what you can do to stay active during the day. Move more! Duh, right? It’s a super simple way to stay on track. Park in the back of the parking lot, take the stairs instead of the elevator, do squats before you use the bathroom, do jumping jacks during commercial breaks. Use those little moments to fit in some kind of exercise. All of those little things add up to progress!
Tip #6 – Take anywhere fitness!
