21 Day Fix: A Day in the Life…

I first discovered the 21 Day Fix in May of 2014. I was in the throes of planning my wedding and happened to catch the infomercial for this program. I’m no stranger to Beachbody programs; I’ve dabbled in P90X, Turbo Fire, and Brazil Butt Lift. I was stuck in a plateau while trying to slim down before dress shopping.

The concept of color coded containers, no set meal plan, 30-minute workouts, and zero calorie counting has really worked for me. The workouts are super fun and the variety of REAL food is endless!

During my first two rounds I managed to lose 20 pounds and tons of inches! I’ve fallen off the wagon a few times and have slipped quite a bit since my honeymoon, but I still go back to this program. It’s time to really get serious and stick with it!

Here’s a peek at a sample day using the lowest container bracket.

Beachbody 3 Day Refresh: RESULTS!

Oh happy day! Today is the first day of my recovery mode from the Refresh. I’m taking it easy and slowly adding things back into my diet over the next 3 days. I really don’t want to shock my system too much.

I’ll be starting a 21 Day Fix challenge group on Monday, so I’m going to try to get back into container-mode. So, this weekend will be 21DF lite. Here’s what I’m eating today:

Breakfast: Vegan Chocolate shakeo w/ 4oz almond milk, 1/2 banana and ice – 1R, 1P
Lunch: 1 peach, cucumber slices, 1 ww toast w/ mashed avocado – 1P, 1G, 1Y, 1/2B
Snack: Baby carrots & hummus – 1G, 1/2B
Dinner: Grilled chicken and a small salad – 1R, 1G, 1O

Totals: 2R, 3G, 2P, 1B, 1Y, 1O

I’m very pleased with my results! Three days isn’t much time at all and I really wasn’t expecting any significant weightloss. Especially since I didn’t exercise. But, I could definitely tell that I was less bloated around my midsection. So… without further ado..

Here are my results:

Weight lost: 5 pounds!
Inches lost: 3 inches (2 on waist, 1 on hips)

Beachbody 3 Day Refresh: Day 3

It’s day 3! The home stretch! Day two went alright! I had a few cravings late in the evening, but resisted temptation.

Why is it that the day I decide to start a new diet, everyone tries to tempt me with delicious junk food? It happens without fail every.single.time. Anyway, I successfully avoided the pastries and candy that my co-workers brought in, so I’d call that a win!

I’m feeling pretty good overall today and I’m really excited to see my results. The initial bloated feeling is gone and I think I may have lost a couple of pounds.

The Meal Plan

6:45: 8 oz filtered water
7:45: Vegan chocolate Shakeology w/ 1/2 banana, water and ice.
9:00: Green tea w/ 1/2 stevia packet
10:30: Fiber sweep w/ 1c water
12:30: Vanilla Fresh shake, apple w/ 2 T almond butter, and cilantro lime cauliflower rice
2:30: 1 large carrot w/ 2 T hummus
4:30: Green tea w/ 1/2 stevia packet
6:30: Vanilla Fresh shake, coconut steamed veggies

Notes:

  • Feeling less gassy.
  • No more headache.
  • Lots of energy.
  • I’m in a great mood.

Beachbody 3 Day Refresh: Day 2

Day one went pretty well! I felt a little sluggish and grumpy, but that was most likely from the caffiene withdrawal. Coffee is allowed on the plan, if you must, but I decided to go ahead and try to kick the habit. I figured that I was probably going to be grumpy while cleansing anyway, might as well kill two birds with one stone.
I normally would have started the cleanse on a Friday and spared my co-workers, but I actually like doing this in the middle of the week. Weekends are the hardest for me. I’m hoping that seeing my results on Friday will discourage me from cheating over the weekend.
The Meal Plan
6:45: 8 oz filtered water
7:45: Vegan chocolate Shakeology w/ 1/2 banana, water and ice.
9:00: Green tea w/ 1/2 stevia packet
10:30: Fiber sweep w/ 1c water
12:30: Vanilla Fresh shake, apple w/ 2 T almond butter, and 1/2 sliced cucumber
2:30: 1 large carrot w/ 2 T hummus
4:30: Green tea w/ 1/2 stevia packet
6:30: Vanilla Fresh shake, coconut steamed veggies
Notes:
  • Feeling less gassy.
  • Still have a headache.
  • A little sluggish. I could totally sleep for hours today.
  • A little grumpy.
  • No major hunger pangs.
  • Craving some delicious carbs.

Beachbody 3 Day Refresh: Day 1

I’ve decided that it’s time to stop being such a lazy bum and get this booty back into shape! I’ve signed up to start a new round of the 21 Day Fix on Monday. But, I thought I needed to give myself a little head start and do the Beachbody 3 Day Refresh. Plus, my Beachbody coach decided to do it the same week!

The 3 Day Refresh is a non-fasting cleanse. It was designed to be a safe and effective way to break bad eating habits and give you a jumpstart on healthy habits. It’s a very simple and straighfoward program that is easy to follow. No crazy ingredients are required.

The cleanse kit consists of a daily Shakeology packet, two Vanilla Fresh shake packets and one Fiber Sweep packet. The handy booklet explains everything you’ll need to know. In addition to your provided supplements, you are allowed selections from a Fruit, Veggie and Healthy Fats list. The meal plan is laid out for you, but you are able to customize it with your list selections. There are also a handful of dinner recipes for you to choose from.

The great thing about this cleanse is that you aren’t required to drink some crazy elixir throughout the day or spend the entire three days in a gym. Light exercise is optional. Also, the program is 100% vegetarian-friendly. I think it might be vegan-friendly too if you opt for one of the vegan shakeology flavors.

This is the perfect program for anyone looking to kickstart a diet plan, break a plateau, or slim down for an upcoming event.

12:30: Vanilla Fresh shake w/ 2/3c blackberries, 5 baby carrots, 2 T hummus.
12:30: 1 medium tomato, 2 T mashed avocado
4:30: Green tea w/ 1/2 stevia packet
6:30: Vanilla Fresh shake, Spinach salad (2c spinach, 1/2 tomato, 1/2 cucmuber, 1/4c broccoli sprouts, balsamic & evoo)

Notes:

  • I had a slight headache throughout day (caffiene withdrawal).
  • Felt pretty fatigued.
  • No major hunger pangs.
  • A little grumpy.
  • Felt a little bloated and gassy.
  • Did NOT like the blackberries blended into the Vanilla shake. YUCK!
  • Drink the fiber sweep drink quickly so that it doesn’t get too thick.
  • Went to bed early to keep myself from snacking.
